Aircraft Turnround Optimisation, Britannia Airways
Focusing on Britannia Airways' main UK operating airports, Transport & Logistics Consultancy was commissioned with the task of demonstrating the feasibility of a 60 minute turnround for narrow and wide body aircraft in charter configuration. The overall objective of the project was to improve Britannia's punctuality performance, ensuring the airline retains its reputation as a punctual carrier.
Baggage Make-Up Study, Gatwick Airport
Gatwick Airport Limited was concerned that the South Terminal baggage hall was becoming congested during peak periods. Following a competitive bidding process, Transport & Logistics Consultancy was retained to complete a two-phased assignment to identify the source of the congestion and recommend an action plan to increase baggage hall capacity.
Check-In Desk Capacity Improvement, Gatwick Airport
A review of baggage make up capacity at Gatwick Airport’s South Terminal, conducted by Transport & Logistics Consultancy, identified opportunities and proposed solutions to relieve the current baggage hall congestion and capacity constraints.
Check-in Process Optimisation, bmi
T&L was at the centre of a drive by bmi to reduce queue times, eliminate the need to expedite for closing flights and improve the effectiveness of their check-in concourse operation at Heathrow.
T&L developed a new check-in area layout and queue structure, incorporating structured hosting roles. This provided the ability to make better use of self-service desk capacity, maximise the success rate of each transaction and minimise the transaction costs in time, resources and equipment for bmi as well as improve the customer check-in experience.
IATA ULD Management Study
IATA is pursuing an industry approach to improving efficiency in the planning and management of ULD logistics. With the participation and support of seven major airlines, Transport & Logistics Consultancy conducted a study, for IATA, of existing airline ULD management approaches to identify the benefits and possibilities of a global approach.
Operations Efficiency Improvements, DPD
DPD is a leading provider of parcel services across Europe, delivering to over 30 countries. As part of an initiative to improve its operations efficiency, DPD asked Transport & Logistics Consultancy to run a despatch optimisation programme at a "pilot" depot in the south of Germany.
Operations Planning, Olympic Games 2004, Athens International Airport
The Olympic Games pose a major logistics and infrastructural challenge for the host nation. As the sole airport serving the city of Athens, Athens International Airport (AIA), which handled 12.3 million passengers in 2003, expected a surge in passenger and baggage demand in August 2004, climaxing in a record peak departure period at the end of the Games. AIA was aware of the need to have a structured and well prepared operating plan to manage demand exceeding the normal passenger and baggage handling capacity of the airport facilities.
Passenger Security Screening Process Improvement
Transport & Logistics Consultancy’s key role at Dublin Airport was to propose strategies to optimise the existing passenger security screening process at its terminal facilities and demonstrate the effect of these strategies within the airport departure process.
Prior to the implementation of the new EU security regulations on 6th November, T&L also advised the airport company on taking a production approach to integrating the new requirements.
Terminal Optimisation Study, Sydney International Airport
Transport & Logistics Consultancy advised Sydney Airport Corporation on increasing passenger throughput through the existing arrivals and departure facilities at Terminal One. Based on these improvements, we determined the timing of future infrastructure investments, in order to meet passenger demand to 2024.
